Submission Guidance

The IAAH Research Grant aims to provide members with the opportunity to undertake innovative research projects that address critical issues in the arts and humanities. The grant seeks to fund research that not only advances academic knowledge but also contributes to broader societal understanding. Researchers are encouraged to explore interdisciplinary approaches and engage in studies that incorporate contemporary social and political issues.

Grant Details

Each year, the IAAH selects a number of outstanding research proposals to receive funding. The grant is intended to cover expenses related to conducting research, such as access to archives, travel for fieldwork, purchase of materials, and other necessary activities to advance research projects.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be current members of the IAAH.

  • Proposals must be for research in the fields of arts or humanities.

  • Both individual and collaborative research projects are eligible.

  • Preference will be given to proposals that demonstrate clear objectives, a well-defined methodology, and the potential for significant contributions to the field.

Application Process

  1. Submission of Proposal: Applicants must submit a detailed research proposal outlining the scope of the project, theoretical framework, methodology, budget, and expected outcomes.

  2. Curriculum Vitae: Include a current CV for each researcher involved in the proposal.

  3. Letter of Intent: A brief letter stating the significance of the project and its alignment with the goals of the IAAH.

Evaluation Criteria

Proposals will be evaluated based on:

  1. Originality and Innovation: How the project contributes new insights or approaches to the field.

  2. Relevance: The significance of the research question and its relevance to contemporary issues in arts and humanities.

  3. Methodological Rigor: Clarity and appropriateness of the proposed research methodology.

  4. Feasibility: The practicality of the timeline and budget relative to the scope of the project.

Award Package

  • Recipients will receive a stipend to support their research activities for a period up to one year.

  • The amount of the grant will vary depending on the needs of the project, typically ranging between $5,000 and $15,000.

  • Grant recipients are required to present their findings in a special session at the IAAH Annual Conference following the completion of their project.

Important Dates

  • Application Deadline: Applications must be submitted by February 15 of each year.

  • Award Notification: Successful applicants will be notified by April 30.
